Barry Cheema turned an entrepreneur for a living but his artistic heart explored music for the longest while. With a degree in vocal music from Panjab University, he did take out two soft pop albums, but his creative pursuit culminated in a book, titled Your Destination Has Arrived.
Philosophical fiction is how this Panchkula-based author labels his novel, “The spiritual strand that runs through the book is the culmination of my spiritual quest over the decades.”
Barry believes that the kind of meditation that one is exploring today are thousands of the years old, but our mind is not. “To rein in a modern mind, we need newer strategies.” he says.
Interestingly, Barry hasn’t read a book all his life. “I suffer from bibliophobia, even if I give my whole might, I can’t go beyond a few pages.” But then what he misses out in words, he makes do with songs. His favourites – Jagjit Singh, Mohammad Rafi Hariharan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. His two albums - The Rising and The Milestone were written, composed sung by him. His next goal is to direct a film. He sure wishes his book makes it to a celluloid drama. — TNS
