Governor flags off plastic waste collection drive

SRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday offered volunteer participation ‘Shramdaan’ for massive plastic waste collection drives under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign organised on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday offered volunteer participation ‘Shramdaan’ for massive plastic waste collection drives under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign organised on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Governor along with his Advisers and senior officers flagged off a mega rally led by Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, and Sheetal Nanda, Secretary, Rural Development Department, for generating awareness on eradicating ‘single use plastic’.

Later, the Governor participated in a programme organised by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj and District Administration Srinagar under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign. Panches , sarpanches, safai karamcharis and employees of the Srinagar MC participated in the event. — TNS
