“The BJP is on the verge of vertical split in Himachal Pradesh as infighting among party leaders had come to fore after the Lok Sabha elections,” said Prem Kaushal, a spokesman of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee here today. He said that many leaders in the BJP were feeling marginalised in the party and had come out openly to claim their stake in the party and the government.

He said that recent outburst against health and industry ministers by members of the ruling party had exposed corruption in the state. He said that instead of investigating the allegations levelled by the BJP leaders, the government was trying to protect the accused. The Congress had demanded an inquiry into the matter by a high court judge so that the truth may be revealed.

Prem Kaushal alleged that the programme to invite investors to the state was an attempt to favour those who backed the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections. He said that the Congress never opposed investment in the state but not at the cost of interests of the people. He asked at a time when the economy in the country was facing serious recession, who would come for investment.

“Only those who had vested interests would come and invest in the state”, he said adding that instead, the government should encourage entrepreneurs from the state by providing them facilities like single window clearances, etc.
