Article 370 was impeding J-K’s development, says Thakur

Article 370 was an obstacle in the development of Jammu and Kashmir and its abrogation would ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all residents of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. This will also usher in a new era of development, said Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing Jan Jagran Sabha here today.

It is after 70 years that Article 370 had been scrapped paying way for One Nation-One Constitution in the country.

The Chief Minister said that the Article 370 was the root cause of the spread of terrorism and anti-national activities in the valley as Article 35A empowered the Jammu-Kashmir Government with special rights.

Stating that this was a step in right direction, the Chief Minister said time had come when the PoK also became an integral part of India under strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, the Chief Minister took round of the exhibition on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi put up by the state BJP on the occasion of ‘Seva Saptaah’ celebrations to mark the birthday of the Prime Minister.

Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that this year would be written in golden letters in the annals of the history as it was during this year that a historic decision of abrogation of Article 370 was taken by the Union Government headed by Narendra Modi. Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap said that the scrapping of the Article 370 from J and K was a bold step of the Centre.
