Dr Sanjay Bhadada, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER, has been selected for Dr Kunti and Om Prakash Oration Award for his seminal work on primary hyper parathyroidism. Dr Bhadada has been working on various aspects of primary hyper parathyroidism.
Dr Amit Rawat, Professor of Paediatric Allergy and Immunology, Department of Paediatrics, is the recipient of the BGRC Silver Jubilee Oration Award-2018 from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for his research work on the primary immunodeficiency diseases. Primary immunodeficiency diseases, also referred to as inborn errors of immunity, are a heterogeneous group of genetic defects involving various components of adaptive and innate immune system. Dr Rawat is an investigator in the Department of Health Research and Indian Council of Medical Research-sponsored Centre of Advanced Research in Primary Immunodeficiency at the Department of Paediatrics, PGIMER.
Prof BC Srivastava Foundation Award will be given to Dr Shankar Prinja, Additional Professor of Health Economics, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER. He received his masters in health economics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and London School of Economics. His main research interests involve economic evaluation of health care interventions and programmes, costing of healthcare services, and analysing the impact of health financing policies in the context of universal health coverage.
He is currently leading a national study to determine the payment rates under the Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana.
Dr PN Raju Oration Award will be given to Dr Ravindra Khaiwal, Additional Professor, Community Medicine, who has been leading research in the area of environmental health at the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGI. The research conducted by Dr Khaiwal focuses on better understanding the environmental pollution and exposure to minimise the impact on health.
He developed an exposure index for health risk assessment and identified barriers for cleaner alternatives, proposed sustainable model for pollution mitigation and adaption to climate change. He also developed the methodology for exhaust and non-exhaust source profile and conducted air pollution trend analysis for evidence-based policy intervention and gave support for science policy framework.
