The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission’s intervention has resulted in the registration of an FIR against the panchayat of Sohian village in Payal tehsil of Ludhiana district for getting a false case registered against a constable of the Punjab Police.

Disclosing this, commission chairperson Tejinder Kaur said Jarnail Singh of Sohian had filed a written complaint before the commission that with a view to oust him from the government job, Malkit Singh, Sukhjivan Kaur, ex-panch Mandeep Singh, ex-sarpanch Vinod Kumar, nambardar Gurmit Singh and Hardeep Singh had filed a false complaint and levelled false allegations against him pertaining to stealing 10 bricks belonging to the panchayat. They got a case registered against him.

The chairperson further said a probe found the charges were false. The court also found no substance in the allegations, leading to the acquittal of Jarnail Singh.

The root cause of the case was the polluted water drain which was opposed by Jarnail Singh. Using their clout, Malkit Singh, Sukhjivan Kaur, Mandeep Singh, Vinod Kumar, Gurmit Singh and Hardeep Singh along with others got the case registered against Jarnail Singh. — TNS
