Bathinda, September 19

A driver and conductor of a private van have been arrested for allegedly raping two minor girl students of Government Smart Senior Secondary School, Kularia village of Mansa district. Sources said both students used to commute to the school in this private van.

Mansa SSP Dr Narinder Bhargav said the police post at Kularia had received a complaint in this regard, following which they nabbed both the accused.

The sources said the parents of both the girls informed the police when their daughters didn’t reach home after the school hours. Initially, they tried to search for van driver Jagseer Singh and conductor Bindar Singh, but they were nowhere to be found.

Their parents alleged that the duo had been harassing the girls in the past too and they had warned them against it. However, they continued to pester the girls and misled them by promising to marry them. The police soon traced both the girls and got their medical examination conducted, following which Section 376 of the IPC was added to the FIR lodged against them. The police also recovered the car in which the duo took the girls along with them after the school hours.
