Authorities at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport have announced Amritsar-Patna flight from October 27. The thrice-a-week flight would be operated by Air India.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the flight from the city to Jay Prakash Narayan Airport, Patna Sahib, under the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik), Phase III, Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), last year. The ministry had announced six domestic flights under RCS for Patna, Goa, Calcutta, Jaipur, Varanasi, Guhatti and Ahmedabad. Some of them were made operational last year.
The Amritsar-Patna Sahib flight was one of the major demands of Sikh devotees as a large number of people visit Patna Sahib through trains. Now, they will get an option of comfortable travel.
Airport Director Manoj Chansoria said, “This flight will connect the city with Takhat Sri Patna Sahib. The devotees were demanding this for a long time.”
