A 38-year-old man died of drug overdose at Dholewala village in Dharamkot subdivision of Moga district, the police confirmed here on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar.

As per information, Ashok went out on Saturday night and did not return. Later, he was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Government High School, Dholewala.

The police sent the body for autopsy at the district hospital. The doctors also collected viscera samples and sent them to a government laboratory.

The deceased’s brother, Jagtar Singh, told the police that two local youths, Raju Singh and Sheesha Singh, of Dholewala village used to provide drugs to Ashok and they were responsible for his death.

Preliminary probe revealed that Ashok died of drug overdose. The police have registered a case under Section 304 of the IPC against both the accused at the Dharamkot police station and further probe is on. No one has been arrested so far.
