25-yr-old woman dies of suspected dengue

Manpreet Kaur (25), a resident of Sai Mandir area, Samana, died of suspected dengue on Saturday night at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. 

Manpreet was first admitted to the Samana Civil Hospital with low platelet count. From here she was referred to the Government Rajindra Hospital. Later, her family members took her to the PGI, Chandigarh, where she reportedly died during the treatment on Saturday night.

The District Health Department said the Senior Medical Officer (SMO), Civil Hospital, and other officials were supervising the response action.

District Epidemiologist Dr Sumeet said, “Our staff has conducted source reduction and awareness activities in houses surrounding victim’s residence to limit any possible spread.”

The Health Department informed that they have demanded records from the PGI, Chandigarh, for confirmation of dengue.

Till now, 26 dengue positive cases have been reported in the Patiala district this season.
