Mohali, September 14

As many as seven residents of Phase 7 were issued challans after dengue larvae were found breeding at their houses here today.

A joint team of the Health Department and the Mohali Municipal Corporation conducted a survey of residential and other premises at Phase 7 and 8.

Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said, “The team checked nearly 1,000 houses and other premises under the drive and issued challans to seven residents after finding dengue larvae at their houses.”

Dr Manjit said this year, only 31 dengue cases had been reported in the district so far. “Last year, 1,079 such cases and four dengue deaths were reported from the district, while in 2017, the number of such cases was 2,472,” he said.

“We started the anti-dengue drive in March and mainly focused on source reduction. So far, our teams have issued a total of 166 challans in Mohali,” the Civil Surgeon said.

The doctors had also organised a special rally in local markets of the town on Thursday to make people aware about dengue and its precautionary measures.
