1,094 cases settled in Mohali

MOHALI: As many as 1,094 cases of different nature, involving awards of a total of Rs 102.21 crore, were disposed of by virtue of compromise at the National Lok Adalat held at three places in Mohali district here today.

As many as 1,094 cases of different nature, involving awards of a total of Rs 102.21 crore, were disposed of by virtue of compromise at the National Lok Adalat held at three places in Mohali district here today.

As many as 45 cases relating to matrimonial disputes were also taken up today. “With motivation of Vivek Puri, District and Sessions Judge, most of the couples decided to reunite for the better future of their children,” said sources.

Earlier, 1,284 pending cases and 3,407 pre-litigative cases were taken up at the Lok Adalat benches in Mohali district today. Of this, 1,094 cases of different categories were disposed of by virtue of compromise, said the sources.

The categories included NI Act cases under Section 138, bank recovery cases, MACT, matrimonial disputes, labour dispute, land acquisition, electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases), service matters related to pay and allowances and retirement benefits, revenue and other civil cases (rent, injunction suits, specific performance suits).

A total of nine Benches were constituted at the district headquarters today. Two benches each were constituted in the Kharar sub-division and Dera Bassi sub-division. One bench of Industrial Tribunal, Mohali, and another bench of Permanent Lok Adalat were also constituted.

Rs1.57 lakh recovered from traffic violators in Ambala

Ambala: A total of 463 cases were settled at a National Lok Adalat held in the District Courts Complex here on Saturday. Danish Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ambala, said a total of 463 cases were disposed of. As many as six Benches comprising judicial officers were constituted under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Kamal Kant. A special helpdesk giving information and details about the cases was established in which paralegal volunteers imparted awareness about the benefits of the Lok Adalat. The CJM said a sum of Rs 1,51,01,000 was awarded in claims relating to motor accident cases and Rs 1,57,400 was recovered from traffic violators.
