An 18-month-old child died when an SUV hit the auto-rickshaw in which he was sitting here on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Sonu, a resident of Zirakpur.
As per the information, the incident took place when Vinod Kumar parked his auto-rickshaw and bought chips for his two children — the victim and his three-year-old brother — who were sitting in the vehicle. In the meantime, an SUV, which was going towards the Patiala side, allegedly hit the auto in the rear, following which Sonu fell off the auto and got crushed under the wheels of the SUV. His brother escaped unhurt.
The victim was rushed to the GMCH-32 in Chandigarh where he succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a case and started an investigation into it. —OC
