Transplant of bone, soft tissue starts at GMCH-32

CHANDIGARH: The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, has started a new facility for the transplant of bone and soft tissue.

The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, has started a new facility for the transplant of bone and soft tissue.

Prof BS Chavan, Director-Principal, GMCH, said the facility had been started by Dr Anand Gupta, Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Dentistry.

Dr Gupta had completed his fellowship by the international association for high skilled training in oral cancer and microvascular reconstructive surgery in Shanghai, China. Dr Gupta has completed five successful cases of microvascular free flaps at the GMCH. Three oral cancer patients have been given new lip and cheek by reconstruction of face using transplant of tissue from hand and other two patients have been given new jaw bone by transplant of leg bone and hip bone on face. “This new facility has been started for advance staged oral cancer and facial deformity patients,” he added. — TNS
