Drug peddler arrested with 37-gm cocaine

The Dera Bassi police arrested a drug peddler with cocaine here today. The suspect has been identified as George Masuda, a resident of Zambia. At present, he was residing in Mayur Vihar, Delhi.

Investigating Officer Harjit Singh said the police party had laid a naka near Jawaharpur village on the Ambala-Chandigarh stretch near Dera Bassi on Saturday. The suspect, who was coming in a CRV bearing Delhi registration number from the Ambala side, was signalled to stop for checking. The police recovered 37-gm cocaine from him. The police arrested him and also seized his CRV.

“We will investigate the source of drug as well as his customers. We have seized his mobile phones and will investigate their contents. He used to come from Delhi to supply drugs to his clients,” said a police source.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at the Dera Bassi police station. An investigation has been initiated. The suspect will be produced before a court tomorrow, the Investigating Officer said.
