Non-bailable warrants issued against C&C officials

The Punjab State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, Chandigarh, has issued lookout notices and non-bailable warrants against senior officials of C&C Towers, which was roped in by the previous Badal government for construction and running affairs of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Interstate Terminus at Phase 6, Mohali. 

The warrants and lookout notices have been issued against chairman GS Johar and chief general manager CVS Sehgal of the company. While the lookout notices have been sent to all international airports of the country, the warrants have been sent to the SSPs concerned. Both officials of the company have been directed to appear before the commission by September 19. 

According to sources, the order against the duo has been issued for non-compliance of the earlier orders of the commission in which it had directed them to appear before it several times. “Earlier bailable warrants were also issued against them, but they failed to appear before the court,” said the sources. 

Earlier, a case in this regard was filed by Chandigarh-based Harpreet Singh, who stated that despite investing Rs 14.96 lakh in the company for getting commercial property in the bus stand project, the company failed to give him the property. The complainant claimed that the amount in question was given to the company in April 2013. While the commission had issued order in favour of the complainant and issued directions to the company to pay 12 per cent interest on the amount from December 2013 till delivery of possession of the property to the complainant or refund the amount with interest and compensation for mental agony and harassment.
