A former vice-president of a private company has approached the police, accusing the firm’s Managing Director (MD) of sexually harassing her at the workplace last year.

She said she had resigned in July last year but, encouraged by the #MeToo movement, she decided to lodge a police complaint against the accused.

A case was registered under Section 354 (molestation) of the IPC at the Sushant Lok police station here on Saturday. The 35-year-old victim alleged the harassment started when she joined the company in June 2012.

According to the complaint filed by the resident of Golf Course Road, Sector 43, she was employed with company from June 2012 till July last year as vice president. education and marketing.

“On several occasions, he would take undue advantage of us being alone in a cabin and tried to forcibly hug me on the pretext of comforting me whenever I was in stress because of work. In September 2012, he expressed his feelings for me and demanded sexual favours from me. Because of his advances, I used to be in agony. I did not report the incident as I was terrified of him and feared job loss as I was the sole breadwinner of my family,” she said in her complaint.

She added the police must ensure that the accused did not flee abroad. The accused could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
