Roads in the Sector 26 grain market are dotted with huge potholes and the authorities have apparently turned a blind eye to the problem.
Due to rain, water has accumulated in potholes. Motorists and pedestrians are having a tough time. People are not even finding space to move from one place to another.
Rattan Singh, who supplies papaya to the market, said: “There are huge potholes on roads, but authorities are not paying any heed to it. Customers avoid coming to the market as the area is full of sludge. The roads are all damaged.”
Vendors could be seen on both sides of the road, which is inundated. Two-wheelers are always prone to skidding on the road. “The mandi roads are in a shambles. It is a matter of concern that the place where people come to buy fruits and vegetables is in such a sorry state. Officials must repair the road, at least they should get the potholes filled,” said Suman Kumari, a visitor to the market.
