Village wise mobile boat started by the district administration on Sunday rescued a three-month-old baby who was evacuated safely by the team from Gidderpindi village’s dera.
Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said the village wise mobile boats were constituted to help flood-affected people. He said on Saturday the team had got a distress call that a three-month-old baby Japleen Kaur, daughter of Pawandeep Singh residing at a dera in Gidderpindi village, needed to be evacuated.
The DC said a mobile team rushed to the spot. He said the team examined her and found her alright but her parents refused to move out of their house. He said to ensure that there was no danger to the life of the infant, on Sunday teams again revisited the village and urged the parents to evacuate her to a safer place.
The Deputy Commissioner further said later the infant, along with her parents, was evacuated from Tarlok Singh numberdar’s dera at Gidderpindi to the base camp at Gidderpindi with the help of the NDRF. He said the infant was stable and fit, adding that after reaching the base camp her parents went to their relatives’ place at Chuarpur village.
