Three booked for firing

Bathinda: Three persons have been booked for opening fire on the manager of a liquor shop at Talwandi Sabo. Complainant Ravi Kumar, manager, Malhotra Wines, said on August 23, Jagdish Singh, Harpreet Singh and Jaswinderpal Sharma of Jajjal village came outside his office and started threatening him.

Complainant Ravi Kumar, manager, Malhotra Wines, said on August 23, Jagdish Singh, Harpreet Singh and Jaswinderpal Sharma of Jajjal village came outside his office and started threatening him. He said later, they opened fire on him. A case under Sections 307, 506 and 34 of the IPC and Sections 27, 54 and 57 of the Arms Act have been registered against the suspects at the Talwandi Sabo police station. TNS

38 malaria cases detected in city

Bathinda: A team of workers from the district Health Department has recovered as many as 584 larvae of Aedes mosquito (that spread dengue) in the past three months from various locations, majorly from houses of residents, in the city. Moreover, the district has witnessed 38 new confirmed cases of malaria during the period. As per Health Department officials, except Balraj Nagar and Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, the larvae was not found in clusters anywhere else in the city. As many as 22 larvae were found from government offices from various locations and one larva was found from a police station. Besides 38 new confirmed cases of malaria, there confirmed cases of dengue have also been reported from the district so far. PAGE 2

Two-day painting workshop ends

Bathinda: A two-day painting workshop, ‘Rang-e-Nanak’, concluded today on a high note. The workshop was organised by Sardar Sobha Singh Memorial Chittarkar Society, Bathinda, in association with the Guru Nanak Hall and Library, Civil Lines. It was dedicated to 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev. Society president Gurpreet Singh Artist said over 60 artists participated in the workshop. Jagjit Singh Dhaliwal said: “Throughout the year, they will organise various activities dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Dr Mauji spoke on the life of Guru Nanak Dev. The artists were honoured by Jagjit Singh and Baba Jasbir Singh of Maiserkhana. TNS
