An old abandoned house in the populated Vinay Street (Ward Number 6) of the town has become a threat to passersby as well as residents living in its surroundings. The kutcha mud wall towards the street is in bad condition and rains have made it more fragile. The area residents fear it can collapse any time.

The street is used by pedestrians, school students and trainees of the Government ITI, especially during morning and afternoon hours. Sources said the family that owns the old house migrated from the town a long time ago.

The residents of the locality have demanded immediate demolition of the structure to avoid any untoward incident. Ashwani Suri, Rakesh Kumar, Vipin and Madan Lal, residing in the Vinay Street, have appealed to the local administration and the Municipal Council (MC) to take immediate remedial steps in this regard. Meanwhile, Municipal Councillor Yash Pal Soga said he had told the MC administration about the condition of the old structure and a notice had been served to the owners of the house.
