Intermittent rain lashed several parts of the state today. The flow of traffic was affected as 333 roads are still lying closed and frequent rains are hampering restoration work.
Efforts are on to restore traffic movement and 230 roads are expected to be opened today while 71 roads would be cleared tomorrow, PWD sources said.
Widespread moderate to heavy rains occurred at many places and Nagrota Surian was the wettest in the region with 57 mm rain, followed by Amb 53 mm, Baldwara 46 mm, Renukaji 33 mm, Guler 26 mm, Paonta Sahib 25 mm, Naina Devi 24 mm, Rohru 23 mm, Dharamsala 30 mm, Berthin 20 mm, Mehre 17 mm, Jogindernagar 16 mm, Bhoranj and Nadaun 13 mm, Gaggal and Kahu 11 mm, Manali 10 mm, Mandi and Dalhousie 8 mm, Nahan 6 mm and Shimla, Ghamroor, Una, Jubbal and Kasauli 5 mm.
The local MeT office has predicted rains and thundershowers at some places in lower, mid and higher hills for the next six days from August 26 to August 31. —TNS
