Jammu, August 25
Former minister and senior National Conference (NC) leader Ajay Sadhotra today criticised the government action to deny entry of Opposition leaders of the country into the state, who had come to assess the ground situation and meet mainstream political leaders and people.
Terming it unconstitutional and undemocratic, Sadhotra said on the one hand, the Centre was claiming normalcy in state but on the other hand, it had denied entry of Opposition leaders of the country, which contradicts its repeated claims.
“Every time there was problem in any part of the country, a delegation of Opposition parties visited the troubled region. They visited J&K in 1990, 2010 and2016. But it is unfortunate that the state has not allowed Opposition leaders to come here,” Sadhotra said in a statement. He appealed to the government to immediately release NC leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, and other mainstream leaders. — TNS
