On the third day of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019, Ritu Kumar showcased her latest collection, ‘Structured Pastoral’, which was a zesty, zippy line aimed at the stylish urban Indian woman. The shade card was dominated by fiery red and neutral black with other colours of the rainbow added. Bollywood’s SOTY 2 actress, Tara Sutaria brought the show to a close as she strutted down with great aplomb in a black, embroidered, halter, mini pinafore over a white shirt.
Hail the heirlooms
Designer Ridhi Mehra showcased her collection ‘An Ode To Heirlooms’. It was a celebration in three parts — Wisra was a mix of Gujarati and Kashmiri forms for the Demi couture line with Bohemian touches, while Ziya, combined Patola motifs with chintz and Kashmiri embroidery. Finally, Zaib was a mix of ikat, Bohemian and Kashmiri prints with a contemporary touch. Showstopper for Ridhi, Diana Penty, walked the ramp in an intricately embroidered sequined lehenga, sheer striped blouse and dupatta with beads.
Elegance all over
Jayanti Reddy’s ‘Benares and Beyond’ was all about elegance and understated style. Deriving its inspiration from the picturesque beauty of Benares, Kashi and Varanasi, the designer used clothes as her canvas to showcase a striking line of ensembles. For a show-stopping entry, it was the gorgeous Pooja Hegde in a heavily embellished purple scalloped hem lehenga and dupatta.
