Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal has shot off a letter to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, demanding an FIR against a self-styled godman for allegedly sexually harassing women at his ashram in the district’s Bhora Kalan village.

Her demand came on a complaint by the local unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing the “godman” of sexually harassing women.

“The commission has received a complaint, wherein it was alleged that a self-styled “godman” had been sexually exploiting women and minor girls in the ashram. Several videos from the ashram are being circulated on social media. The complainant has submitted that in spite of lodging several police complaints, a case has not been registered. A man who exploits religion is a blot on society and need to be checked,” reads the letter by Maliwal.

Commissioner of Police Mohammad Akil clarified the police had not received any complaint against the “godman”.

“The police received a complaint from two women alleging, their objectionable video was circulating on social media. The police registered a case. The matter is under investigation,” he added.
