Ludhiana, August 23

Workers of the Youth Akali Dal led by district president Gurdeep Singh Gosha, along with residents of Shivpuri area, protested against stagnant water of Buddha Nullah accumulated in streets.

The protesters filled buckets of water and took these to the office of area MLA Rakesh Pandey. They broke earthen pots near the MLA’s office.

Gosha said the Youth Akali Dal workers called the MLA several times but he didn’t come out of the office.

The protesters raised slogans against the Punjab Government and the Municipal Corporation.

Gosha said during the past four days, water of Buddha Nullah entered houses and shops in Shivpuri area as sewers flowed back.

Shops have not been opened for the past four days, but the Congress MLA and MC officials were unmoved, he added.

He said the government and Municipal Corporation have totally failed to solve the issues of the public.

People were forced to live under unhygienic conditions, and the Congress Government and Municipal Corporation were responsible for it, Gosha added.

He advised that MLA Rakesh Pandey should stage a protest against the MC and the government to get the issue of stagnant water resolved.

It is shameful that the Congress MP was missing from Ludhiana for the past two months, he added.
