Krishna Janamashtami was celebrated with full fervor as city schools hosted traditional festivities and kids came dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha.

Bhavan’s SL Public School

Bhavan’s SL Public School celebrated Krishan Janmashtami with MP Shwait Malik attending the event as chief guest. Tarak Chaitanya (Chinmaya Mission Amritsar), Suresh Nanda and Chaman Mehra were the special guests to oversee various festivities and contests held for students. Special tableaus from the life of Sri Krishna were presented by scchool’s four houses.

DAV Public, Lawrence Road

DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, marked the Janamashtami with divine songs amidst mesmerising flute recital to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. The celebration comprised various performances by students, including dances, enactments and ‘bhajan’ recitation. Students spoke about the significance of the auspicious day and the rituals attached to it. A speech on the life of Lord Krishna and his teachings to mankind marked the informative phase of celebrations. Regional Officer Punjab Zone – A, Dr Neelam Kamra and the manager of the school wished health and prosperity for all and urged to focus on selfless service. Principal Dr Neera Sharma addressed students and staff on the occasion and said one must try to tread the path of courage and grit and endure all odds like a true fighter, referring to Lord Krishna’s philosophy.

Shri Ram Ashram Public

Students of Shri Ram Ashram Public School celebrated the Krishan Janmashtami festival with zeal. They came dressed in traditional attires representing Lord Krishna, Radha, Sudhama, gopies and sakhaas. A special assembly was conducted, depicting the diverse ‘leelas’ of Lord Krishna. Kids danced to the tunes of devotional songs and recited ‘bhajans’. — TNS
