Muktsar, August 23

After a wait of nearly six months, the beneficiaries of the state government’s Ashirwad Scheme have finally got the shagun amount of Rs 21,000 each. The state government has cleared the dues from January to May this year.

As many as 1,072 beneficiaries in Muktsar district have got the shagun amount of Rs 2.25 crore, said Jagmohan Singh Mann, District Welfare Officer.

Notably, the Congress after coming to power in state had increased the shagun amount from Rs 15,000 to Rs 21,000 in July 2017.

Under the scheme, the state government promises to provide the money to the family of a girl belonging to the SC, BC or economically weaker categories of society. The money is transferred directly into the bank account of the girl’s family or the girl.
