Khattar lays stone of K’shetra elevated railway track

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday laid the foundation stone of the elevated railway track in Kurukshetra. The 6-km-long elevated track is to be constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 225 crore on Kurukshetra-Nawana section.

“The state government has been making efforts to develop Kurukshetra as a major religious and tourists spot. Elimination of five railway gates by constructing an elevated track was required to not only give a relief to the commuters from permanent traffic jams, but also increase the beauty of the Kurukshetra. The existing track had divided Thanesar into two parts.

“There were several suggestions, including the construction of over bridges, but after considering all facts, the project of elevated track was prepared with the help of Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, which is a joint venture of Ministry of Railways and the state government,” said Khattar.

He said several railway projects were in progress in Haryana. “In order to eliminate three railway gates, an elevated railway track will be constructed in Kaithal. A detailed project report is being prepared. Similarly, a detailed project report of the Palwal-Kundli orbital rail corridor is being prepared. After the completion of the project, the passengers would be able to travel directly from Palwal to Chandigarh and Punjab,” he said.
