Chamba, August 22

The Chamba Jan Hit Sangathan, NGO, has reiterated its demand for an experts committee, including building experts and geologists, to conduct a probe into the construction of a new bus stand as floods in the Ravi had posed a serious threat to it. The organisation has sought the construction of the bus stand at a zero point.

Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday, sangathan convener Shadi Lal Sharma and president Kishor Sharma pointed out that this was the second time when the floods had damaged a portion of the national highway, posing an imminent danger to the bus stand.

He said the organisation had opposed the construction of the bus stand as it was being built at Tatwani, an unsafe site. Office-bearers said the government should utilise the structure built for the bus stand for some other purpose. — OC
