Chief Secretary BK Agarwal has been appointed as Secretary to Lokpal in the rank of Secretary to the Government of India. An IAS officer of 1985 batch, Agarwal took over as Chief Secretary on October 1, 2018, and is due for superannuation in June 2021.

Srikant Baldi, Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, also of 1985 batch, is all set to be appointed as the next chief secretary but he will have a short tenure of over four months as he will retire in December 2019.

Upma Chawdhry and Asha Ram Sihag, both of 1983 batch, Arvind Gupta,1984 batch, and Sanjeev Gupta, 1985 batch, who were senior to Baldi are on the Central deputation while former chief secretary VC Pharka, also of 1983 batch, who was shifted as Principal Chief Adviser in January 2018, is unlikely to be posted back as Chief Secretary.
