A 32-year-old man, who was working as a tailor at Zeal Boutique in Gurdev Nagar, committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan here this evening.

The deceased has been identified as Abid, alias Guddu. The reason behind his extreme step was not yet clear. Richa, Station House Officer (SHO) of the police division No. 5, said the incident took place around 3.30 pm today when Guddu was working in his room on the first floor of the boutique. He committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan.

The incident came to fore when one of the boutique employees went upstairs and saw him hanging. He immediately raised an alarm and called the boutique owner.

Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. The SHO said no suicide note was recovered from the spot.
