Educationist: A teacher must be good listener

The University Grants Commission-Human Resource Development Centre (UGC-HRDC) and Department of History, Panjab University, has organised a refresher course in research methodology in social sciences. The course will end on September 2.

Prof SK Tomar, honorary director, HRDC/Academic Staff College, highlighted the importance of change. He said a teacher must update his/her knowledge by being a good listener and a good learner. “The refresher course facilitates the participants to fulfil the purpose,” he added. Prof Anju Suri, Chairperson, Department of History, said the course would keep participants abreast with new techniques and methods of research, upgrade their knowledge for theoretical and practical applicability, sharpen their analytical mind and prepare them for inter-disciplinary research.

Prof Sanjay Kaushik, Dean, College Development Council, said age was no bar to learn and imbibe new ideas. “The course shall refresh participants’ knowledge through 14 days of brain storming sessions,” he said.
