The Traders’ Federation Warehouse (Nehru Market) has sought extension in dates for filing income tax (IT) and GST returns in view of the peculiar situation that emerged post the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Federation president Rattan Lal Gupta held a meeting and discussed difficulties being faced by traders of Jammu and Kashmir in filing GST returns due to suspension of internet services.
Addressing the meeting, Deepak Gupta, general secretary of federation, said the traders firmly stood with the government and welcomed all measures that could bring lasting peace to the state but they were suffering due to the internet ban.
“We hope that the government will provide necessary relief to augment trade once the situation becomes congenial,” the general secretary of federation said.
The federation has requested Governor Satya Pal Malik and KK Sharma, Adviser to the Governor, to take up the matter with Union Finance Minister for the extension of date for deposit and filing of GST and income tax returns till the restoration of internet service across the state.
