Bathinda, August 20

Demanding justice, family members of the victims in the Jawahrewala double murder case met MF Farooqui IGP, Bathinda Range, on Tuesday. They urged him to arrest the suspects in the case.

On July 13, two Dalits — Kirandeep Singh and his sister-in-law Mini Rani — were allegedly shot dead by some Congressmen in their village.

The family members said the IGP had told them that he would pay special attention in the matter and they would get justice.

The senior police officer had promised them to investigate false papers against them, they added.

Expressing solidarity to the family members, members of some organisations, including Punjab Students’ Union, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union and BKU Ekta Ugrahan, were also present on the occasion.

They alleged that the remaining suspects were not being arrested because of their connection with the Congress.
