Two persons were killed in a LPG cylinder blast at Mujheri village of the district this afternoon. Gas leakage is reported to be the cause behind the explosion.

Sources said the blast took place around 12 pm when Anju (18) was preparing food. Anju and her mother, who run a tea stall at the IMT in Sector 70 here, have been residing at Pratap’s house on rent. While Anju had come home to prepare food, her mother was at the tea stall. The blaze that followed the blast engulfed Anju, resulting in serious burn injuries to her. She succumbed to her injuries at a hospital here.

Akhil, 32, a tenant residing in Anju’s neighbourhood, rushed for her help, but he too suffered burn injuries up to 95 per cent. He was admitted to a local hospital where doctors referred him to Safdurjung Hospital, New Delhi. However, Akhil died on way to the hospital, it is reported. The police have launched an investigation after registering a case.
