Ludhiana, August 20
Former Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia’s defamation case against AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was today adjourned till August 23.
The court is likely to hear arguments on an application moved by Singh to de-exhibit one document produced by Majithia. Neither Majithia nor Singh appeared today in court. On the last hearing, the court had recorded Majithia’s statement.
Majithia had alleged that Singh made a false and defamatory statement against him during a rally in Moga on September 9, 2015. It was alleged that he did not stop here but launched a fallacious campaign in order to defame and discredit the complainant.
He claimed that he was unnecessarily being portrayed to be involved with drug racketeers who were nabbed by the Akali Dal government. “Singh made slanderous, defamatory and scurrilous statements against me in an unbridled manner without any basis or material and only with the purpose of intentionally defaming and discrediting me,” Majithia added.
