Police file chargesheet in Sec 20 robbery case

The local police have filed a challan in the Sector 20 showroom dacoity case that took place on January 30 this year in which one person was killed and another injured seriously.

According to the challan, seven men were involved in the conspiracy as they had hired a gang from Delhi to execute it and arranged all logistics. The 1,600-page challan was filed against eight persons, including four gang members arrested till date. The eight men, including four of the seven conspirators, Hemant alias Lala, Sunil Rana, Kuldeep and Naveen, four hired gang members of the total nine — Jitender, Altaf, Irfan and Rajpal Singh — have been arrested.

The other three conspirators — Vineet alias Vicky, Mohit and Rohit – are yet to be arrested. Accused Vicky and Sunil Rana, had fled from Sector 20 in May after a Uttar Pradesh police team launched an operation here to nab them in connection with a case there. 

According to the chargesheet, the nine-member gang had arrived in the city two days before the crime took place and their stay was arranged at a hotel near Zirakpur. According to the call details, few of the gang members were in constant touch with Vicky. The vehicles were arranged by accused Naveen and the gang members escaped through different routes as per the plan after committing the crime.

The incident took place on the evening of January 30 this year when a gang of armed robbers entered the showroom in Sector 20 market, fired gunshots and robbed the persons present there of gold jewellery, cash and mobile phones. The nine members came on three motorcycles wearing helmets. Among the victims, Deepak, who sustained a bullet injury on the side of his head, was declared dead at the PGI on January 31. 

Another victim Sunny fractured his leg and received injuries after he jumped off the first floor to save himself.
