New Delhi, August 20

BJP president Amit Shah today assigned senior party leaders, including Union Ministers, responsibilities for upcoming Assembly elections in four states, including Haryana. The party leadership also took stock of election preparedness and discussed strategies for the upcoming elections.

Sources said it was discussed during the meeting that all those who want to join the BJP from rival parties should be first “evaluated properly”.

Meanwhile, the blunting of Article 370 of the Constitution will be a key theme of the campaign to underline the “strong and nationalist” image of the party in the four states, three of which are currently held by it.

The BJP is expected to contest Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand — the three states ruled by it — under the leadership of incumbent CMs Manohar Lal Khattar, Devendra Fadnavis and Raghubar Das, respectively. — TNS
