The DGP has recommended transfer of missing schoolgirl case to the CBI for further probe after the special investigation team of the State Crime Branch in Gurugram failed to get any lead even after nine months.

Shivani (14) went missing from her native village Mohanpur on June 27 last year. Her kin and supporters staged a dharna outside the mini-secretariat in Rewari for 35 days in October 2018.

“We called on SP Nazneen Bhasin on Friday to find the status of the case. She told us that the case had been transferred to the CBI. The SP provided us a copy of the letter by the DGP to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) for shifting the case,” said Ram Kishan Mahlawat, convener of the sangharsh samiti.

“Despite efforts of the district police and crime branch, there is no clue about the missing girl. This case is sensitive as there was a long protest in Rewari in this regard. It is recommended that the case may be transferred to the CBI for further investigation,” stated the letter.
