The water level in the district has reached 231.55 metres, which is above the danger mark of 230.85 metres. The administration has sounded an alert in villages near the Yamuna and officers are camping there. Standing crops on thousands of acres in the riverbed have submerged.

Machinery and manpower had been deployed to deal with the situation. Farmers were asked to keep away from their fields. Scores of animals living in the Yamuna riverbed reached adjoining villages to save themselves as the water level rose.

The administration sounded an alert in Rana Majra, Patthargarh, Tamsabad, Ramda, Rishpur, Adhmi, Rahimpur Kheri, Mirjapur, Goyala Khurd, Khojkipur, Garhi Basic, Jalalpur, Tamsabad, Sanoli Khurd and Khojkipur villages.

Krishan Kumar, husband of the Tamsabad sarpanch, said crops in the riverbed had submerged, but no major loss was reported.

Deputy Commissioner Sumedha Kataria said around 100 police personnel had been deployed near the embankment of the river to avoid any untoward situation.
