An interactive session was held by Puneet R Kundal, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, with the students of Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar today. The officer began the session with India's foreign policy and highlighted the career options one can pursue in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He informed the students about the role of a diplomat especially, in countries that face crisis in the political-economic arena. The students were enthusiastic and interacted with the guest on various issues relating to Indian diplomacy and foreign relations.
Induction programme at YCET
The Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) organised an induction programme for the students doing their bachelors in Engineering, batch-2019, today. Mohammad Waseem Kazmi, principal general manager, India Telecom Services, BSNL, J&K Circle was the chief guest at the event. The purpose of the event was to make the freshers familiar with the state of art facilities available in the college and various platforms and opportunities it offers. Director of YCET Prof (Dr) Anoop Kumar Srivastava underlined the significance of engineering disciplines and their relevance in the contemporary times.
SPCB seeks ways to dispose e-waste
Following directions from State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has asked heads of all institutions to provide information about the scientific disposal of e-waste. The schools have to provide information and submit a detailed list to the Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), who would forward it to the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) concerned and thereafter the CEOs would submit it to the Pollution Control Board.
CLUJ extends last date to Sep 30
The Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) has extended the date for submission of applications for the post of Assistant Professor (on a permanent basis). It has been shifted from August 31 to September 30.
Jammu DPS excels in Basketball Tourney
The Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu, has excelled in Inter-school Basketball Tournament held for U-19 boys. It was organised by District Youth Services and Sports and was held at MA Stadium recently. The school finished as runner-ups after losing to Birla Open Mind School. The school team comprised of Sidharth Sharma, Vivhan Jaggi, Keshav Dev Jamwal, Anish Suri, Aryaman Chopra, Vaibhav Sharma, Purav Uppal, Ayan Raina, Pratayaksh Sahni, Rhythm Gupta and Gaurav Gupta. Principal of the school Ruchi Chabra congratulated the team and the coach Shubham Bhardwaj.
JKPS holds session on NEP-2019
A session on the National Education Policy (NEP-2019) was held at JK Public School (JKPS), Kunjwani. Vice Principal Shashi Rattan commenced the session with his welcome note. Thereafter, Principal SK Singh briefed the faculty members about the policy with the help of a documentary. He stated that the education would now focus on delivering better, nurturing students' skills and preparing them to deal with the real world problems. Coordinator of Toddlers' Wing Shivangani briefed that the draft policy suggested a new curricular framework for 3-8 year olds with a flexible system inclusive of activities.
