Sanskrit enriches Indian culture

Gurugram: Rotary Public School, Sector 22, organised a programme on Monday to commemorate the contribution of Sanskrit language towards the enrichment of Indian culture. Students dressed up in ethnic costumes recited shlokas, and performed patriotic dances depicting the significance of the language, all in Sanskrit along with Hindi translation.  

Dyal Singh College student tops KU

Karnal: Palvinder Kaur, a student of MA (English) semester-II of Dyal Singh College, secured the first position in Kurukshetra University (KU) scoring 349 out of 500 marks. Dr Chander Shekhar Bhardwaj, principal of the college, congratulated Palvinder on her achievement. “It was due to the guidance of my teachers and motivation by my parents that I got the first position. I thank my parents and teachers for their support,” she said. 

Cleanliness drive

Palwal: Hundreds of students of various government schools in the district took part in a cleanliness drive organised by the district administration on Saturday. Student volunteers, including from Bharat Scouts, spent several hours to collect polythene bags and plastic waste, said a spokesperson for the administration.  

Workshop organised

Panipat: A one-day workshop on how to improve the level of education in government schools was organised in Arya Senior Secondary School on Monday. Dr Sunita Dhull, a core team member of permanent resource group, was the key spokesperson. Master trainer Balinder Ahlawat briefed the gathering about the Right to Education Act. Another master trainer Sunil Kumar spoke about the model techniques of teaching.

Capacity-building programme

Panipat: DAV Public School, Ambala Cantonment, hosted a two-day capacity-building programme on accountancy for Class XII students that concluded on Saturday. The workshop was facilitated by Rajesh Kumar Jhamb, a faculty member of Government Polytechnic for Women, Chandigarh, and Sumit Singla, Assistant Professor at SD College, Chandigarh. Thirty-three representatives of different schools from Ambala and nearby areas attended the workshop. Various methodologies of teaching accountancy in Class XII were discussed.
