Independence Day was celebrated at Government Model High School, Sector 38-D ,Chandigarh.  Headmaster Madan Lal Kashyap hoisted the Tricolor. Patriotic songs were sung and speeches, which reminded everyone about sacrifices of freedom fighters, were delivered on the occasion.  TNS

Saupin’s, sector 32

Saupin’s School, Sector 32, kept the festive spirit high on ‘Rakhi’, a festival of love. Tiny tots made colourful rakhis and tied them on their friends’ wrists. Stories related to the festival were narrated. The little ones went home happily flaunting rakhi souvenirs.  TNS

MOTI RAM arya, sector 27 

Independence Day along with Grand Parents Day was celebrated at  Moti Ram Arya Senior Secondary Model School. The National Flag was hosisted through drone, which was followed by National Anthem. Principal Seema Biji addressed students on the occasion. Grandparents were honoured in different performances by tiny tots at the school auditorium.  TNS

Sri Aurobindo, sector 27

Students of Sri Aurobindo School, Sector 27-A, Chandigarh, celebrated the 73rd Independence Day, which also coincides with the birth anniversary of freedom fighter, Sri Aurobindo Ghosh, with enthusiasm. Children sang Sanskrit verses ‘Bhavani Bharti’ while school rock band presented patriotic songs in tribute to martyrs. School chairman Arvind Mehan and Principal Garima S Bhardwaj unfurled the Tricolour.  TNS

AKSIPS-45 SMART

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour at AKSIPS-45 Smart School.  The celebration started with the hoisting of National Flag followed by a short speech on the significance of freedom.  Students sang patriotic songs on the occasion.   TNS

St Joseph’s, Sector 44  

The auspicious day of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ was celebrated at St Josephs Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh. Students made colorful ‘rakhis’ and decorated ‘thalis’ using glitter paper, beads, doris and ribbon. They were judged by art teacher on the basis of neatness, creativity and efforts put in. All children participated in the ‘rakhi making’ competition.  TNS

Government Model, Sector 36

The 73rd Independence day was celebrated at the Government Model High School, Sector 36-D,Chandigarh, with patriotic fervour. Headmistress Shakuntla hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by National Anthem. The programme started with the speech of headmistress on the importance of Independence.  The function proceeded with group song, speeches,  poem recitation and fancy dress competition.  The event culminated with distribution of sweets among the staff and students. Jitenderveer Sarvhitkari, Mohali 

The 73rd Independence Day and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ was celebrated at Jitenderveer Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 71, Mohali. Punjabi actor Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi spent his time with students, who tied ‘rakhis’ to him. Students presented patriotic songs and play on the life of soldiers. School principal Kavita Attri made students aware about the importance of the Independence Day. TNS

Valley Public, Panchkula

Valley Public School celebrated Independence Day with fervour.   A special assembly was organised on the occasion wherein students delivered speeches, recited poems and presented patriotic songs.  To raise awareness about freedom fighters of India the school director, Col GC Mittal (retd), inspired students to respect and salute the country. New India Senior, Pinjore

New India Senior Secondary School, Pinjore, celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with great pomp and joy at the school auditorium. A colourful cultural programme was organised on the occasion in which school choir roused patriotic fervour of all present with heartfelt rendition of patriotic songs. Students presented a musical skit depicting the slavery and India’s freedom. An inter-house patriotic song competition was also held.  Students also presented dance on melody of patriotic songs during the event. TNS
