The Mansa police claimed to have arrested four persons, including two jail inmates who were on out parole, and seized 46 gram of heroin from their possession in separate incidents.
Mansa SSP Narinder Bhargava said on August 14, Sub-Inspector Harbhajan Singh, along with CIA staff and a police party, was present near Moosa village in connection with the ongoing campaign against drugs. They arrested accused Gurwinder Singh and Tarwinder Singh from an i20 car and recovered 16 gram of heroine. A case under NDPS Act was registered against them.
The SSP said during initial interrogation the accused said they procured the heroine from Kuldeep Singh of Bhucho Kalan. After checking the previous record of accused Gurwinder Singh, it was found that a case under the NDPS Act at the Jaurkian police station was already registered against him and Gurwinder was convicted in that case for 10 years. He was lodged in Bathinda Jail. He was granted a parole from August 6 to September 30, but the police were keeping a close eye on his activities.
SSP Narinder Bhargava said in the second case, on August 15, ASI Amrik Singh, along with CIA Staff and a police party, was present near Bhaini Bhagha village in connection with the ongoing campaign against drugs. As per information, he arrested accused Kuldeep Singh and Lakhwinder Singh and recovered 30 gm of smack from them. The police also impounded a motorcycle used by them.
During initial interrogation, the accused said they procured heroine from a resident of Haryana. After inspecting the previous record of Kuldeep Singh, it was found that a case under the NDPS Act was already registered against Kuldeep Singh at the Rampura City police station in Bathinda. Accused Kuldeep Singh was convicted in that case for 10 years, he was in Bathinda Jail. The accused was granted a parole from July 17 to September 14.
SSP Narinder Bhargava said accused Gurwinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh were habitual drug suppliers. They met each other in jail. Both had applied for a parole which was granted to them.
The district police succeeded in recovering the contraband from the both accused. Surveillance was being made on all the anti-social elements, including those who are either in jails or on a parole.
