Ro Khanna joins Pak Congressional Caucus

Washington: Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna has joined the Congressional Pakistan Caucus and said he would continue to pursue the American objectives of strong US-India ties, as well as peace in the region. The two-term Democratic Congressman representing Silicon Valley is the first Indian-American lawmaker to join the Congressional Pakistan Caucus. Khanna (42) is also a member of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian-Americans. PTI

‘Fiona’ is 1 millionth ‘canine good citizen’

new york:  The American Kennel Club has announced that a Bernese mountain dog named Fiona became its 1 millionth “canine good citizen”. Fiona and owner Nora Pavone had a special reason for pursuing the club’s mark of canine comportment. Fiona spends her days comforting people at the Pavone family’s Brooklyn funeral home. The club introduced the canine good citizen title in 1989 to promote polite doggy behaviour and responsible pet ownership. AP

US rapper A$AP Rocky convicted of assault

Stockholm: A Stockholm court on Wednesday convicted US rapper A$AP Rocky of assault and handed him a suspended sentence over a street brawl in June, a case that outraged fans and stoked diplomatic tensions. The 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, and two members of his entourage "assaulted the victim by hitting and kicking him as he lay on the ground. The artist has also thrown the victim to the ground and stepped on his arm", the court said.  AFP
