Bathinda, August 14

Two months have elapsed since a student of the Central University of Punjab had gone missing under mysterious circumstances, but the police are still groping in the dark. Members of the investigation team from the Kot Shamir police post said they were still clueless about the whereabouts of Manoranjan Sahu (22).

Notably, Rashmi Ranjan Sahu, brother of the missing student, had lodged a complaint with the Sadar police in which he stated that his brother had left the university campus on June 5 morning, but did not come back.

Talking to Bathinda Tribune, Jaswinder Singh, investigating officer, said, “We were waiting for vacations to get over at the university. We have recorded statements of hostel mates of the student, but nothing concrete came out which can lead us to find him so far. We have even circulated missing posters of the students in different districts and even in neighbouring states. We are also in constant touch with family members of the missing students, but there is no clue about his whereabouts so far. The police have also scrutinised phone call details of the student, but to no avail.”

He said, “According to hostel mates of Manoranjan, who belongs to Orissa, he was addicted to an Internet gaming app-PUBG.”

Talking to Bathinda Tribune, Rashmi from Orissa said, “I do not know where my brother has gone. After I came to know that he had gone missing, I travelled to Bathinda and checked different locations in the city, but to no avail. We have provided all details about my brother to the police. I hope cops will be able to find him soon.”— TNS
