Kamaldeep Kaur, a student of CT University bagged a silver in the U-18 category (below 55 kg) at the 20th Milo International Open Karate Championship, held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Defeating Sri Lanka, Kamaldeep brought laurels to India and her college. A total of 10 Asian countries and around 1,200 players participated in the international open karate championship.
Kamaldeep said: “I believe that every girl must bring herself out from books and household chores and give wings to their dreams. My family, friends and university gave me full support for my sport and ultimately, I won silver for India.”
Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor congratulated Kamaldeep. He said: “Students should not only stick to their domain, instead they should explore every possibility they see and work for their interests. Kamaldeep is a student of airlines but is still pursuing her passion for karate.” He wished her luck for her future endeavours.
