SCD Government College entered into their centenary academic session today. An assembly for undergraduate students of BA, BBA, BCA, BSc and BCom was held in Sahir Auditorium. The assembly began with the singing of the Panjab University, Chandigarh, anthem.

Principal Dharam Singh Sandhu welcomed SS Bhogal, chief guest of the function, industrialist and an alumnus of the college. Sandhu said the college had a long list of illustrious alumni, who were a great inspiration to students. He urged the students to strive for excellence and self-improvement.

Bhogal recalled his student days and spoke about the value of a teacher. He said children of today’s generation were more aware, assertive and knew what they wanted. He praised the college for being a hub of activities to provide students invaluable exposure. Another alumnus Bhushan Goyal was also present on the occasion. He had pamphlets of famous sayings of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam with him, which he distributed among students.

Members of the Teachers’ Council oriented the newly admitted students about various aspects of the college. Information about the NSS, the NCC and cultural activities was provided to students. They were also apprised about the student council that shoulders the responsibility of supervising every college function and event.
