A 40-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by her husband’s friend and two accomplices. The victim, who belongs to Ferozepur, had come to meet her husband at Ludhiana court.
The accused have been identified as Vikramjit Singh, his brother Bhavan Singh and one unidentified person. In her complaint, the woman said she had come to meet her husband at the court complex. The police had brought her husband to the court complex for hearing of a case, as he is under trial at Ludhiana jail, she said.
The woman claimed that as she had to return to Ferozepur in the evening, she requested her husband’s friend Vikramjit to drop her at the bus stand. But the accused allegedly asked her to reach Aggar Nagar, from where he said he would help her in getting a bus to Ferozepur.
The woman said Vikramjit had sent his brother and another person to pick her from Aggar Nagar in their car and they later took her to a house in Barewal area. Vikramjit was already present in the house, while he claimed that his wife has gone out somewhere, she said.
The woman said the accused offered a drink laced with sedatives to her after which she went unconscious and then raped her. She was later dropped at the bus stop.
A case was registered against the three accused at Sarabha Nagar police station. The police said the investigation is under way and the accused would be arrested soon.
